Baked Ziti Recipe

I was supposed to share this recipe weeks ago. I know pasta isn’t the in thing to eat now with 24 new diets popping up all over the place every few days. There are so many ways to make any main dish, but I’m going to share with you how I make baked ziti and you can tweak it as needed for your family.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 box of penne pasta
  • 3lbs ground chuck
  • tomatoes
  • 1 fresh garlic clove
  • 1 pack of pepperoni
  • Two 4cup bags of cheese. I used the italian blend and mozzarella
  • 1 large jar of prego mushroom spaghetti sauce
  • 1 small jar of garden combo spaghetti sauce

Preheat your oven to 350.
After your ground meat is cooked and drained you can add the spaghetti sauce, tomatoes, pasta, and garlic to your pot. I peeled and cut 4 pieces off my garlic glove. It wasn’t finely chopped, but chopped enough.
Mix it all together really well. I used to 9 x 13 pans for mine. Spread the meat mixture into your pan and layer it with as much pepperoni and then cheese as you like.

Bake at 350 degrees in the oven for about 30 minutes or until the cheese is as melted or golden brown on the edges as you like. Baked Ziti goes great with salad,  garlic bread, and a glass of wine.

Each of my kids ate this but in different variations. Samuel is allergic to dairy and he doesn’t like ground meat, so he ate pasta with spaghetti sauce. Nakiah ate the mixture but w/out cheese just because she only eats cheese on her pizza.
Ava had homemade pizza on a flour tortilla with the sauce cheese and pepperoni.  Seems like a lot of extra work but it wasn’t. I used all of the ingredients  and made up their food as I went along.
