This was the best Christmas I’ve had in 10yrs! It was full of love, tons and tons of laughter, presents, and good food with both sides of the family. I was worried that everyone wouldn’t fit into my tiny apartment, but it ended up being just enough.
Christmas Eve morning Samuel woke up before the girls(as usual)and opened his present of pj’s, a book, and I added puzzles this year.
The girls woke up not long after he did and opened their Christmas Eve presents. We spent the rest of the day lounging around for the most part. We did end up going out to run a few errands later in the day.
I was up late with Ava wrapping presents for the rest of the family. She couldn’t sleep and it was nice to have that one on one time with her.
I told her she had to promise not to tell people what their presents were before or as they were opening them.
After making sure all of the kids were in a deep sleep, Santa put their presents under the tree. Look at Mitten-Sparkles, sitting there like she’s one of the presents.
Even though it was late, and I didn’t get much sleep, there was something magical about tip toeing around in the dark. Maybe it’s the newness of having my own place again, maybe it’s because it was Christmas time…I just really enjoyed myself with the whole Christmas prep this year.
I was on the phone with my best friend from Ohio until 3am! We talked so much the week of Christmas, usually until at least 2am. I haven’t physically seen her in 2yrs. So thankful for the telephone and social media so we can keep in touch.
So, I went to bed after 3am and Samuel woke up at 5:30am ready to open presents. It took all I had to focus trying to get these pictures on so little sleep.
It took me an hour to put that Lego garbage truck together and then he started taking pieces off, saying he didn’t like this or that there…then he ran in into the wall and it fell apart. It’s been in the box in the corner and he hasn’t touched it.
He better be glad he’s so cute.
All I’ve heard about since Halloween is these My Little Pony Equestrian Girls. They were so excited to get them and have played with them for hours and hours since Christmas.
I saw this wrapping paper in Dollar Tree and had to have it. It was perfect for my simple Christmas theme this year. The original idea came from Pinterest.
I found cotton string and used scrap pieces of wrapping paper for the name tags.
These were the gifts Ava helped me wrap for the rest of the family. Gifts bags and tissue paper all came from the Dollar Tree. I love the way it turned out!
My family arrived first and I had them arrange the present around the tree so I could get pictures. I’m really glad we cleaned up as we went along. There were a lot of presents and people coming into this small space. I didn’t get pictures of the in-laws haul because I was out at the store when they arrived.
I finally have a *real* camera! My best friend, the one I was on the phone with all night, sent it to me. It’s pink! All photos in this post are from my new Canon point and shoot.
I’m going to have so much fun with this camera. I’m already in love with the pictures it takes(especially in natural light) and have played around with the settings a little.
I really need to remember to wipe down my bathroom mirror before taking pictures in front of it.
Maybe next time I won’t be so chatty that I forget to take pictures of everything else going on around me.
This was the first Christmas in 10yrs where I was able to have a gift for every single person that came over. Some were handmade and others were purchased from the store…I know that may seem like such a small thing to some people, but it’s huge for me, and it felt great watching everyone open their gifts.
After everyone had left, I sat back on the couch, listened to the kids playing, and I felt so full of joy. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this happy.
2014 is knocking at the door and I’m ready for this new year. I know it’s going to be an amazing year. I can feel it!
I’m rambling, but I can’t help it, I’m so happy and I’m enjoying living my life. It feels so good.
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and I hope 2014 is all that you want it to be.
