In the midst of all of my first world problems(living with my parents, not getting enough sleep, wishing I had nicer clothes) I have these three little people who are literally full of wonder. It really doesn’t take much to make them happy.
Since we’ve had the car, Nakiah wants to and thinks we should be on the go 24/7. She’s full of energy and loves to be out and about around other people. I get it, but I also need moments of sitting at home and doing nothing. We also need to watch gas, money, etc…
I’m working on balancing her need for being on the go with my need for slowing down.
Last Saturday when she woke up asking where we were going I knew I needed to find something fun and low-cost.
Virginia Beach doesn’t really have a downtown area, but there is a district like area with a shopping mall that they’ve upgraded. Restaurants for several blocks, a hotel, comedy club, and a fountain. It’s called Towne Center, but my kids call it the city because of the tall buildings. So I dropped my brother off at work down there, parked the car and we walked around the city for a couple of hours.
It was a graduation weekend, so we saw lots of caps and gowns and proud families. There were local vendors lining the walkway near the fountain, and a 6yr old little girl playing the piano.
I had promised them slushies, but the closest walking place with cold treats was Cold Stone Creamery. Have you had their chocolate peanut butter cup perfection ice cream??? It is soooooo good! The girls had vanilla ice cream and Samuel had the sorbet.
We checked out the construction but the fountain was and always is the main attraction.
After we left the city we stopped at the store to do some light grocery shopping and pick up more soil to finish our garden. I think the garden is going to be an all summer event. Maybe we’ll have a Fall garden this year?
Sunday we took a drive across the water so the kids could spend Father’s Day with their Dad, and Samuel got a haircut! Doesn’t he look so different! He looks like such a big boy now. He calls it his flat haircut. I’m glad he likes it. Photo by Ava.
That’s just a little of what we’ve been up to. See…wonder-full.
What have you been up in this last week?
Hope you ‘re all having a great weekend!
